GC 2032 Shadow - Ceramingo Artistic Low-Fire Glaze

GC 2032 Shadow is an artistic low-fire glaze that develops smoky gray tones, dark shadows and metallic-looking reflections. Its pigments may intensify around the details of the form, while misty transitions across the surface add pronounced depth. It can be used to create striking surfaces on modern, sculptural and textured forms.

Food Safe: This glaze is suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food when proper application and firing conditions are followed.
Artistic Surface Notice: The smoky transitions, metallic appearance and color intensity may vary depending on the application thickness, clay body, peak temperature and cooling schedule.

Application Notes

  • Mixing: Stir the product regularly before and during application to distribute the pigments and surface-forming components evenly.
  • Surface preparation: The bisque-fired surface must be clean, dry and free from dust.
  • Coat application: The effect shown in the sample image was achieved by applying three brush coats over white clay.
  • Drying between coats: Allow the applied coat to lose its surface moisture before proceeding with the next coat.
  • Thickness effect: Color intensity, metallic appearance and misty transitions may vary between thinly and thickly applied areas.
  • Form effect: The glaze may pool in recessed and textured areas, creating darker shadows and more distinct transitions.
  • Dilution: For spraying or dipping, add water in small amounts and avoid over-diluting the product.
  • Clay body effect: Metallic-looking transitions may appear more pronounced on white clay. Different clay body colors may alter the final shade and surface character.
  • Firing: Peak temperature, kiln atmosphere and cooling schedule may affect the color transitions and surface gloss.
  • Flow control: Monitor glaze movement on vertical forms and leave an appropriate unglazed safety margin near the base.
  • Glaze combinations: Before combining with other glazes, test the color compatibility, surface interaction and potential amount of flow on a sample tile.
  • Safety: Use appropriate personal protective equipment during application and ensure that the workspace is adequately ventilated.
  • Storage: Store the product tightly sealed at room temperature and away from direct sunlight.
Important Recommendation: The smoky gray shade, metallic appearance, surface transitions and amount of flow may vary depending on the application thickness, clay body, peak temperature, kiln atmosphere and cooling schedule. Preparing both vertical and horizontal test tiles with your own clay and firing schedule is recommended before the main application.
