GC 2000 Emerald - Artistic Low-Fire Glaze

GC 2000 Emerald is a distinctive, fluid artistic glaze that brings the deep, refined green tones of emerald gemstones to decorative pottery surfaces. Its rich pigmentation and reactive surface behavior produce dramatic color transitions, shaded effects, and textures with visual depth. Application thickness and firing conditions may create different artistic results with every project.

Not Food Safe: This glaze is not recommended for plates, bowls, mugs, or other functional surfaces that come into contact with food. It should be used on decorative pieces only.

Application Notes

  • Brush application: The product is supplied ready to use at a consistency suitable for brush application. Applying 3 coats on white clay is recommended for pronounced color depth and surface effects.
  • Coat application: Allow each coat to dry completely. Apply each new coat in a different direction to achieve a balanced covering.
  • Flow control: Because this glaze is fluid, leave a sufficient unglazed safety margin near the base of vertical forms. The risk of running may increase with thicker applications.
  • Firing effect: At approximately 1040°C, the glaze may become more fluid and its artistic transitions may become more pronounced on vertical surfaces.
  • Dipping and pouring: Adjust the consistency by adding approximately 5-10% water. Add water gradually and preserve the glaze’s coverage.
  • Clay body selection: Emerald green appears brighter and clearer on white clay. Dark or grogged clay bodies may produce darker, more rustic and dramatic results.
  • Effect variation: Clay color, application thickness, number of coats, and firing conditions may alter the color intensity, degree of flow, and surface movement.
Important Recommendation: The appearance of artistic fluid glazes may vary depending on application thickness, clay body, firing schedule, and firing temperature. To evaluate the flow and color character under your own application conditions, test on vertical tiles before the main project or batch production.
