GC 1774 Freckled Mink - Ceramingo Artistic Low-Fire Glaze

GC 1774 Freckled Mink is an artistic low-fire glaze that combines soft mink and gray tones with brown speckles across the surface. It produces a natural, distinctive appearance over white clay bodies, while speckle density, color depth, and reactive transitions may vary depending on application thickness, clay body, and firing conditions. It gives decorative pottery forms a natural, textured, and distinctive character.

Not Food Safe: This glaze is not recommended for food-contact surfaces such as plates, bowls, mugs, or similar functional ware. It should be used only on decorative pieces.

Application Notes

  • Preparation: Mix the product thoroughly before application until a homogeneous consistency is achieved.
  • Brush application: The glaze can be applied directly to a clean, dry bisque surface. Applying 3 coats is recommended to achieve a result similar to the visual sample.
  • Drying between coats: Allow the surface to dry before applying the next coat. Apply successive coats in alternating directions for an even distribution.
  • Dipping and spray application: Depending on the application method, 5-10% water may be added gradually and in a controlled manner.
  • Speckle character: As the number of coats and application thickness increase, the density of the brown speckles and reactive surface appearance may become more pronounced.
  • Clay body selection: White clay bodies may produce lighter and more pronounced mink tones, while dark or colored bodies may create deeper and more variable results.
  • Flow control: Preparing a test tile is recommended to observe glaze movement and speckle distribution before use, particularly on vertical forms.
  • Storage: Store the product at room temperature with the lid tightly closed and away from direct sunlight. Protect from freezing.
Important Recommendation: The appearance of reactive glazes may vary depending on application thickness, clay body, kiln atmosphere, and firing schedule. Test flow, color, and speckle distribution on a sample tile before the main application.
