GC 1056 Metallic - Artistic Low-Fire Glaze

GC 1056 Metallic is an artistic low-fire glaze that produces a cast iron, dark steel, and metallic anthracite appearance on pottery surfaces. When fired between 1030°C - 1050°C, it may develop deep black tones, metallic gray reflections, and an industrial surface character. It provides a bold, striking finish for decorative vases, sculptures, architectural pieces, and modern designs.

Not Food Safe: This glaze is not recommended for plates, bowls, mugs, or other functional surfaces that come into contact with food. It should be used on decorative pieces only.

Application Notes

  • Preparation: Mix the product thoroughly before application until a uniform consistency is achieved.
  • Brush application: The glaze can be applied directly to a clean, dry bisque surface. Applying 3 coats is recommended to achieve a result similar to the visual sample.
  • Drying between coats: Allow the surface to dry before applying the next coat, and brush each coat in a different direction for even distribution.
  • Dipping and spray application: Depending on the application method, 5-10% water may be added gradually and in a controlled manner.
  • Metallic character: As application thickness and the number of coats increase, the metallic anthracite appearance and dark steel reflections may become more pronounced.
  • Clay body selection: Metallic color transitions may appear more clearly on white clay bodies, while dark or colored bodies may produce deeper, more integrated surfaces.
  • Flow control: Before use on vertical forms, prepare a test tile to observe glaze movement and the distribution of the metallic effect across the surface.
  • Storage: Keep the product tightly closed at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, and protect it from freezing.
Important Recommendation: The appearance of metallic artistic glazes may vary depending on application thickness, clay body, kiln atmosphere, and firing schedule. Test the color, flow, and metallic surface on tiles prepared under your own firing conditions before the main application.
