GC 1007 Oil Green - Artistic Low-Fire Glaze

GC 1007 Oil Green is an artistic low-fire glaze that combines deep oil-green tones with metallic reflections and artistic transitions across pottery surfaces. Its metallic character may become more pronounced as application thickness increases; however, due to its fluid nature, it should be applied carefully on vertical and angled forms.

Not Food Safe: This glaze is not recommended for plates, bowls, mugs, or other functional surfaces that come into contact with food. It should be used on decorative pieces only.

Application Notes

  • Product preparation: Mix the product thoroughly before application until a uniform consistency is achieved.
  • Brush application: Applying 3 coats on white bisque is recommended for a saturated metallic surface similar to the visual sample. Allow each coat to dry and brush each new coat in a different direction.
  • Spray application and dipping: Add 5-10% water according to the required application consistency. Add water gradually and in a controlled manner.
  • Flow: This product is prone to running and may move toward the base, particularly on vertical and angled forms.
  • Application thickness: Thicker applications may strengthen the metallic effects but also increase the risk of running. Apply more thinly near the base.
  • Metallic character: Thinner areas may produce lighter green tones, while thicker areas may develop darker tones and metallic reflections.
  • Clay body selection: Green and metallic transitions appear more prominently on white clay. Dark or red clay bodies may produce deeper, more rustic results.
  • Storage: Keep the container tightly closed at room temperature and away from direct sunlight.
  • Safety: Use appropriate protective equipment during application and keep the product out of reach of children.
Important Recommendation: The appearance of metallic, reactive, and fluid glazes may vary depending on application thickness, clay body, form angle, and firing schedule. Testing on a test tile before the main application is recommended, particularly on vertical forms, to evaluate the degree of flow and metallic character.
