Technical Details and Application

Painting and Glazing

Refsan underglaze ready-to-use paints can be applied safely. Proper glazing is essential for creating a hygienic and durable surface for food contact.

  • Ceramic Firing: Fire between 1040°C and 1050°C for a smooth, professional-grade finish.
  • Tile (Çini) Firing: Use tile glazes fired at 900°C – 920°C for a refined and artistic surface.

Decorative Use (Acrylic Paint)

  • Ideal for display-only projects using acrylic paints, which do not require firing.
  • Warning: Acrylic-painted bowls are not food-safe. Do not use for serving food unless professionally glazed and fired.
  • Apply a protective varnish post-painting to maintain the decorative look.

Quality and Natural Variations

Fired at 1050°C to reach its sturdy bisque state, each bowl is a product of slip casting. Minor variations in thickness or clay tone (white vs. red clay) may occur, reflecting the authentic handcrafted nature of the product.

Firing Safety & Guidelines

  • Surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned and dried before glaze application.
  • Ensure the kiln temperature matches the specific requirements of the chosen glaze.
  • A pre-test is recommended as firing variables can influence the final color.
  • Technical results of the firing and glazing process are the responsibility of the user.
