Egg Ceramic Bisque

Our Decorative Egg collection features a timeless organic form, meticulously hand-thrown on the potter's wheel. These high-quality bisque figurines offer a smooth, curved canvas perfect for detailed underglaze illustrations, traditional motifs, or modern glazing techniques.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This product is hand-thrown on a wheel, not slip-cast. Because each piece is individually crafted, minor variations in shape and exact measurements are natural and expected. Delivered in bisque (unglazed) form.

Technical Details and Application

Painting and Glazing

Refsan underglaze ready-to-use paints are highly compatible with this wheel-thrown bisque. Professional glazing is the essential final step to transform these porous bisques into durable, high-gloss ceramic decor.

  • Ceramic Application: Fire between 1040°C and 1050°C for a professional finish.
  • Tile (Çini) Application: Traditional tile glazes maturing at 900°C – 920°C can also be used for refined, artisanal patterns.

Decorative Use with Acrylic Paint

  • Suitable for display-only decorative projects using acrylic paints (no kiln firing required).
  • Safety Warning: Acrylic-finished items are not food-safe and should not be used in contact with health-sensitive materials.
  • Applying a protective varnish post-painting is recommended to preserve the artistic design.

Craftsmanship & Handcrafted Variations

Fired at 1050°C to reach its sturdy bisque state, each egg carries the unique marks of handcrafted production. Natural variations in thickness, size, or clay tone (white vs. red clay) are hallmarks of authentic wheel-thrown pottery, ensuring every piece has its own character.

Firing Safety & Guidelines

  • Surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned and dried before glaze application.
  • Strictly adhere to the temperature requirements of the specific glaze used.
  • Performing a test fire is suggested to observe how kiln atmosphere influences final color.
