Technical Details and Applications

Painting and Glazing

  • Underglaze Decoration: Refsan ready underglaze paints can be safely used on both tile and ceramic bisque surfaces.
  • Ceramic Glazing: Ceramic glazes typically mature between 1040°C and 1050°C, producing a smooth and durable surface.
  • Tile Glazing: Tile glazes are generally fired between 900°C and 920°C, creating a thinner and elegant decorative finish.

Decorative Use with Acrylic Paint

  • The jar can also be decorated using acrylic paints.
  • Warning: Acrylic paint is not suitable for food contact surfaces.
  • Applying protective varnish after painting is recommended.

Firing Process

This product has been carefully bisque fired at 1050°C. The firing strengthens the ceramic structure and prepares the surface for glazing and decoration.

Different firing temperatures and schedules may influence the final appearance and texture of the ceramic surface.

Possible Variations

Because ceramic bisque products are produced using casting or wheel forming techniques, slight variations in thickness, dimensions, or surface texture may occur. These variations reflect the handmade character of ceramic production.

Different clay bodies may also produce natural tone variations. White clay bodies create lighter bisque tones, while red clay bodies may create warmer and darker shades.

Product Durability

After glazing and final firing, ceramic products become durable and suitable for everyday use. However, care conditions may vary depending on finishing techniques.

Decorative surfaces created with acrylic paints may wear over time.

Important Notes for Glazing and Firing

  • The product should be cleaned and completely dried before glazing.
  • Ceramic and tile glazes mature at different temperatures, therefore correct firing temperatures must be used.
  • If acrylic paint is used, applying protective varnish is recommended.
  • Different firing temperatures may slightly affect the bisque color, therefore test firing is recommended.
