Technical Details and Application

Painting and Glazing

Refsan underglaze ready-to-use paints are highly compatible with this bisque. Achieving a non-porous, lead-free finish through proper glazing is essential for hygienic food and beverage contact.

  • Ceramic Application: Fire between 1040°C and 1050°C for a smooth, durable, and high-gloss finish.
  • Tile (Çini) Application: Traditional tile glazes maturing at 900°C – 920°C can be used for a refined, artisanal look.

Decorative Use with Acrylic Paint

  • Suitable only for display-only decorative projects (no kiln firing required).
  • Safety Warning: Acrylic-finished mugs are not food-safe. Do not use for drinking if finished with acrylics, as the paint is not suitable for consumption or high heat.
  • A protective varnish is recommended post-painting to preserve the decorative design.

Craftsmanship & Variations

Fired at 1050°C to reach its sturdy bisque state, each mug carries the marks of authentic production. Due to the casting and hand-finishing process, minor variations in thickness, size, or clay tone are natural hallmarks of handcrafted pottery.

Firing Safety & Guidelines

  • Surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned of dust and completely dry before applying glaze.
  • Strictly follow the temperature requirements of your specific glaze type.
  • Performing a test fire is suggested to observe how kiln variations affect the final bisque color.
