OZZ GLAZE Crater Pink - Textured Artistic High-Fire Glaze

OZZ GLAZE Crater Pink is an artistic high-fire glaze that creates pink-toned craters, pores and surface effects reminiscent of flowing lava. Its reactive and textured character gives forms pronounced depth and a sculptural appearance. After firing, it produces a voluminous, dynamic surface with crater sizes that vary depending on application thickness, clay body and firing schedule.

Food Safety: Not Food Safe. Due to its porous and cratered surface, this glaze is not suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food. It should only be used on decorative objects, artistic pieces and sculptural forms.
Texture Warning: The size, depth and distribution of the craters may vary depending on application thickness. Thicker applications create larger and more pronounced pores, while thinner applications may produce a shallower texture.

Application Notes

  • Mixing: The product must be mixed thoroughly before and during application to ensure an even distribution of the crater-forming components.
  • Coat application: For brush application, apply 2-3 coats to the bisque-fired surface, allowing sufficient drying time between coats.
  • Thickness effect: Thin applications produce smaller, shallower craters, while thick applications may create larger, deeper and more voluminous pores.
  • Texture control: Prepare test tiles comparing different numbers of coats and application thicknesses to determine the desired crater size.
  • Reactive character: Crater density and distribution, as well as the appearance of the pink tones, may vary depending on peak temperature, kiln atmosphere, hold time and cooling schedule.
  • Dilution: For spray and dipping applications, add water in small increments and avoid over-diluting the product.
  • Form effect: Glaze may accumulate in recessed, curved and horizontal areas, potentially creating larger and denser craters in these sections.
  • Clay body selection: The color and surface texture of different high-fire clay bodies may affect the intensity of the pink tones and the appearance of the craters.
  • Surface preparation: Remove all dust and residue from the bisque-fired surface before application.
  • Intended use: This product should only be used on decorative objects, artistic pieces and sculptural works.
  • Glaze combinations: Before combining with other glazes, test chemical compatibility and the resulting textural interaction on a test tile.
  • Safety: Use appropriate personal protective equipment during application and ensure that the workspace is adequately ventilated.
  • Storage: Keep the container tightly closed and store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight.
Important Recommendation: The size, depth and surface distribution of the craters, along with the intensity of the pink tones, may vary depending on application thickness, number of coats, clay body, peak temperature, kiln atmosphere and cooling schedule. Preparing vertical and horizontal test tiles with different application thicknesses is recommended before the main application.
