C-80200 Black Sea - Artistic High-Fire Glaze

C-80200 Black Sea is an artistic high-fire glaze that creates dynamic surfaces with green and black micro-speckles scattered across a deep ocean blue base. After firing, its glossy finish, metallic reflections, and variable color transitions give ceramic forms a deep-sea appearance.

Food Safety: This glaze is suitable for food-contact surfaces when applied and fired under the correct conditions.

Application Notes

  • Brush application: For balanced color depth and a well-defined micro-speckled effect, 2-3 coats are recommended. Allow the surface to dry completely between coats and apply each coat in a different direction.
  • Coat effect: As application thickness increases, the depth of the blue tone, density of the green-black speckles, and appearance of the metallic reflections may vary.
  • Flow behavior: Due to its slightly fluid character, a thinner application is recommended toward the lower sections of vertical forms. Leave sufficient clearance near the kiln shelf.
  • Clay body selection: On white and light-colored high-fire clay bodies, the blue base and micro-speckles may appear more pronounced. Darker clay bodies may alter the overall color and contrast.
  • Firing effect: Metallic reflections, color transitions, and speckle distribution may vary depending on kiln heat distribution, hold time, and cooling rate.
  • Preparation: Mix the glaze thoroughly before use to ensure even distribution of the micro-speckles and pigments.
Important Recommendation: The appearance of artistic high-fire glazes may vary depending on application thickness, clay body, kiln atmosphere, and cooling rate. Testing on a sample tile before the main application is recommended.
