Application Notes

• Brush application: For proper development of the lava texture and bubbling effect, 2-5 coats are recommended. Allow the surface to dry completely between coats and apply each coat in a different direction.
• Texture development: For a more intense and pronounced cratered surface, 3-4 coats may be applied. Thinner applications may produce a more limited foaming and bubbling effect.
• Consistency adjustment: For dipping or spraying applications, 10-15% water may be added depending on the desired consistency. Add water gradually and in a controlled manner.
• Reactive character: Bubble size, pore density, and color transitions may vary depending on application thickness, clay body, and firing schedule.
• Surface use: The resulting porous and cratered texture may require extra care when cleaning. For functional ware intended for food contact, the surface should also be evaluated for hygiene and cleanability.
