A-210 Reef Artistic Low-Fire Glaze

A-210 Reef is an artistic low-fire glaze featuring a turquoise-leaning green-blue base with dark micro-pigments that create a surface reminiscent of coral textures. Its semi-gloss satin finish, combined with color depth and speckle distribution that vary depending on application thickness, gives ceramic forms a dynamic appearance.

Food Safe: This glaze is suitable for food-contact surfaces when applied and fired under the correct conditions.

Application Notes

  • Brush application: Apply 2-5 coats for a balanced green-blue base and pronounced micro-pigment distribution. Allow the surface to dry completely between coats.
  • Coat effect: As the number of coats increases, the blue tones may deepen while surface coverage and the density of the dark speckles may increase.
  • Clay body selection: On white and light-colored clay bodies, the turquoise tones may appear more vibrant and the micro-pigments more defined. On darker clay bodies, deeper and lower-contrast results may occur.
  • Firing effect: Color transitions, speckle distribution, and satin sheen may vary depending on firing temperature, kiln atmosphere, hold time, and cooling rate.
  • Thickness control: Excessively thick applications may increase the speckled effect and surface movement. On vertical forms, controlled application is recommended toward the lower sections.
  • Preparation: Mix the glaze thoroughly before use to ensure even distribution of the micro-pigments and effect-producing components.
Important Recommendation: The appearance of artistic low-fire glazes may vary depending on application thickness, clay body, kiln atmosphere, and cooling rate. Testing on a sample tile before the main application is recommended.
