A-013 Green Lotus Artistic Low-Fire Glaze

A-013 Green Lotus is an artistic low-fire glaze inspired by natural lotus leaves, featuring a delicate light green base with dark green crystalline speckles that develop across the surface. The variable speckle distribution and blooming effect created during firing give each ceramic form a unique surface character.

Food Safe: This glaze is suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food when properly applied and fired under the recommended conditions.

Application Notes

  • Brush application: Apply 2-5 coats for a balanced light green base and pronounced speckle development. Allow the surface to dry completely between coats.
  • Coat effect: With 3-4 coats, the dark green crystalline speckles may develop larger and more densely. With thinner applications, the speckled effect may be more subtle.
  • Clay body selection: On white and light-colored clay bodies, the contrast between the light green base and dark speckles may become more pronounced.
  • Reactive character: The size and distribution of the speckles and the blooming effect may vary depending on firing temperature, kiln atmosphere, hold time, and cooling rate.
  • Flow behavior: Surface movement may increase with thicker applications. A controlled and thinner application is recommended near the bottom of vertical forms.
  • Preparation: Mix the glaze thoroughly before use to ensure even distribution of the crystal-forming particles and pigments.
Important Recommendation: The appearance of artistic low-fire glazes may vary depending on application thickness, clay body, kiln atmosphere, and cooling rate. Testing on a sample tile before the main application is recommended.
