Botz 9590 Mauritius is a ready-to-use liquid glaze distinguished by its intense Mediterranean blue shade and semi-transparent surface character. Suitable for use on both light- and dark-colored clay bodies, the product creates a matte surface when fired at 1040°C. Applying 2 thick coats by brush is recommended to achieve rich color intensity and surface uniformity.

Application Notes

• Mixing: Stir the product regularly before and during application to ensure that the color-producing components remain evenly distributed.
• Surface preparation: The bisque surface must be clean, dry, free from grease and thoroughly dust-free before application.
• First coat: Apply the first coat thickly and evenly, then allow it to dry sufficiently before applying the second coat.
• Second coat: Apply the second coat evenly and thickly across the form to increase color intensity and improve surface uniformity.
• Coat direction: The second coat may be applied in a different direction from the first to help minimize brush marks and variations in coverage.
• Transparency effect: Due to its semi-transparent character, the underlying clay color, surface texture and decorative details may remain partially visible after firing.
• Thickness effect: The intensity of the blue color, level of transparency and surface appearance may vary between thinly and thickly applied areas.
• Form effect: Glaze may accumulate in recessed, curved and horizontal areas, creating sections with a deeper and darker blue color.
