880-5 Cobalt Pink - Ready-to-Use Colored Artistic Low-Fire Glaze

880-5 Cobalt Pink is a ready-to-use colored low-fire glaze that produces a vivid, saturated, and glossy pink appearance on fired clay surfaces. Its liquid form allows application by brush, spray gun, or dipping. After firing, it provides fired clay forms with rich color, gloss, and a water-resistant surface.

Food Safe: This glaze is suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food when proper application and firing conditions at 1050°C are followed.
250 ml Packaging Information: The 250 ml packaging option is prepared with reduced water content and increased pigment concentration. The product is supplied at a consistency suitable for direct brush application.

Application Notes

  • Mixing: The glaze container should be shaken or stirred thoroughly before application to ensure even distribution of the color-producing components.
  • Surface preparation: Dust, dirt, and residue should be removed from the bisque-fired surface, and the product should be applied to a clean, dry surface.
  • Baumé adjustment: The product density should be adjusted according to the application method. A Baumé range of 38-40 °Bé is recommended for spray application and 40-42 °Bé for dipping.
  • Brush consistency: If the standard product is to be applied by brush, it can be left to stand for at least 12 hours. Excess water accumulated on the surface can then be carefully removed using a syringe to achieve a thicker consistency.
  • 250 ml concentrated product: Since this packaging option has reduced water content and a higher pigment concentration, it can be applied directly by brush.
  • Spray application: The product should be adjusted to the appropriate Baumé value, mixed until homogeneous, and sprayed onto the surface in even coats.
  • Dipping application: The bisque-fired piece should be dipped into the product in a controlled manner. After removal, allow excess glaze to drain and surface moisture to dissipate.
  • Drying: The specified surface drying time is 3-4 seconds. Ambient temperature, humidity, absorbency of the bisque-fired body, and application thickness may affect this time.
  • Cellulose use: If adjusting the consistency for dipping is difficult, approximately 1% cellulose may be added to the product.
  • Cellulose warning: Cellulose may take time to dissolve and can cause clumping if it is not fully dissolved. This procedure is recommended for experienced users.
  • Single-color application: The glaze can be applied on its own to create a uniform, glossy cobalt pink surface.
  • Multicolor application: Before combining with glazes in similar or contrasting tones, color transitions and chemical compatibility should be checked on a test tile.
  • Underglaze decoration: Colored glazes may be opaque or semi-opaque and can reduce the visibility of underglaze designs. If the design needs to remain clearly visible, a transparent glaze should be preferred.
  • Overglaze decoration: After glazing and firing are complete, decoration can be applied using suitable overglaze colors. Follow the recommended firing schedule for the selected decorating product.
  • Firing: Once the surface moisture of the applied glaze has dissipated, the piece should be fired at 1050°C.
  • Safety: Appropriate personal protective equipment should be used during application, and the work area should be adequately ventilated. In case of eye contact, rinse the eyes thoroughly with plenty of water.
  • Storage: Keep the product tightly sealed at room temperature and away from direct sunlight.
Important Recommendation: The intensity, opacity, and surface gloss of the cobalt pink tone may vary depending on the application method, Baumé value, coat thickness, color and absorbency of the clay body, and firing schedule. Preparing test tiles using the intended application method and consistency is recommended before the main application.
