Technical Details and Application

Painting and Glazing

Refsan underglaze ready-to-use paints are highly recommended for the intricate divisions of the Mars series. Achieving a durable, non-porous finish through correct glazing is essential for hygienic, daily food contact.

  • Ceramic Application: Fire between 1040°C and 1050°C for a professional, high-gloss, and easy-to-clean surface.
  • Tile (Çini) Application: For artisanal decorative styles, use tile glazes maturing at 900°C – 920°C to reach an elegant, traditional finish.

Decorative Use with Acrylic Paint

  • Ideally suited for display-only projects using acrylic paints (no kiln firing required).
  • Safety Warning: Acrylic-finished items are not food-safe. Do not use for serving food unless professionally glazed and fired.
  • Applying a protective varnish post-painting is recommended to maintain the decorative integrity.

Craftsmanship & Material Variations

Each piece is carefully fired at 1050°C to reach its sturdy bisque state. As a handcrafted product created via slip casting, minor variations in thickness, size, or clay tone (white vs. red clay) may occur, highlighting the authentic nature of artisanal ceramics.

Firing Safety & Guidelines

  • Surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned and dried before applying glaze.
  • Ensure your kiln temperature strictly matches the requirements of the specific glaze used.
  • We suggest a test fire, as variations in kiln atmosphere can influence the final bisque color.
  • The technical success of the final firing and glazing process is the user's responsibility.
