Refsan 259 Black Stoneware Vacuum Clay Body is a vacuum-packed ceramic clay body designed for high-temperature firing. Containing 25% fine grog (0.2 mm), it develops a distinctive black fired color and provides excellent structural stability for large ceramic forms. It is suitable for both functional stoneware and contemporary artistic ceramics.

Applications & Recommendations
Artistic & Decorative Ceramics
Ideal for sculptures, figurines, vases, decorative objects, and contemporary ceramic designs. The naturally black fired body creates a distinctive appearance in both glazed and unglazed finishes.
Large & Sculptural Forms
The fine grog content improves structural stability, making the clay body well suited for large, thick-walled, and sculptural pieces. When properly dried, it also helps reduce the risk of cracking and deformation.
Hand Building
Suitable for slab building, coil building, and hand modeling. The fine grog increases the clay body's strength during forming, making it easier to construct tall and wide ceramic forms.
Wheel Throwing
The vacuum-processed, homogeneous clay body performs well on the pottery wheel. Due to its grog content, a slightly textured surface may be noticeable during throwing.
GROG CONTENT NOTICE
This clay body contains 25% fine grog (0.2 mm). While the grog improves strength and helps maintain the shape of larger pieces, it may produce a lightly textured surface. For projects requiring extremely smooth finishes and delicate surface details, a grog-free clay body is recommended.
STONEWARE FIRING NOTICE
This clay body is designed for high-temperature firing. To achieve proper stoneware vitrification and optimum strength, glaze firing between 1180°C and 1220°C is recommended. Always ensure that the selected glaze, kiln, and firing schedule are compatible with this temperature range.
