S 2094 Karayel - Artistic Low-Fire Glaze

S 2094 Karayel is an artistic low-fire glaze that develops white mineral particles over smoky gray and anthracite tones. Thin applications may produce lighter, semi-transparent gray tones, while thicker areas can deepen in color and develop a more variegated and intense surface character. Its glossy finish and variable particle distribution give ceramic surfaces a natural rock-like appearance.

Food Safe: This glaze is suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food when proper application and firing conditions are followed.

Application Notes

  • Thin application: Lighter smoky gray tones and a semi-transparent natural rock-like appearance may become more prominent.
  • Thick application: The color may deepen toward dark anthracite, while variegated transitions across the surface may become more pronounced.
  • Particle concentration: The visibility and distribution of the white particles may increase depending on application thickness.
  • Mixing: The product should be stirred regularly before and during application to prevent the particles from settling and to ensure even distribution across the surface.
  • Coat control: Coats should not be applied excessively thick, and each coat should be allowed to dry sufficiently before the next application.
  • Consistency adjustment: For spraying or dipping applications, water should be added gradually and in a controlled manner to avoid over-thinning the product.
  • Clay body selection: Due to its semi-transparent character, the color of the clay body may affect the final appearance of the smoky gray and anthracite tones.
  • Combination: Before combining with other glazes, chemical compatibility, fluidity, and color reactions should be tested on a test tile.
  • Care: Hand washing is recommended to preserve the glossy finish and artistic particle effect.
  • Safety: Appropriate personal protective equipment should be used during application, and the work area should be adequately ventilated.
  • Storage: Keep the container tightly closed and away from direct sunlight. If settling, drying, or thickening occurs, mix thoroughly before application and strain if necessary.
Important Recommendation: The intensity of the smoky gray and anthracite tones, distribution of the white particles, gloss, and semi-transparent appearance may vary depending on application thickness, clay body, kiln firing schedule, kiln loading arrangement, and cooling rate. Preparing vertical and horizontal test tiles is recommended before full-scale application or combining with other glazes.
