Technical Details and Application

Painting and Glazing

Refsan underglaze ready-to-use paints are highly recommended for the Mars series. Achieving a non-porous and durable finish through proper glazing is essential for hygienic, daily food use.

  • Ceramic Application: Fire between 1040°C and 1050°C for a professional, smooth, and easy-to-clean surface.
  • Tile (Çini) Application: For traditional artisanal patterns, use tile glazes maturing at 900°C – 920°C for an elegant, traditional look.

Decorative Use with Acrylic Paint

  • Acrylic paints are suitable only for display-oriented decorative projects (no firing required).
  • Safety Warning: Acrylic-finished items are not food-safe. Do not use for serving food unless professionally glazed and fired.
  • A protective varnish is recommended after acrylic painting to ensure the longevity of the artistic design.

Craftsmanship & Material Variations

Each piece is carefully fired at 1050°C to reach its sturdy bisque state. As a product of slip casting and artisanal work, minor variations in thickness, size, or clay tone (white vs. red clay) may occur, which are natural hallmarks of handcrafted ceramics.

Firing Safety & Guidelines

  • Ensure the product is free of dust and completely dry before applying glaze.
  • Always match your kiln temperature to the specific requirements of the chosen glaze.
  • Performing a test fire is recommended, as variations in kiln temperature can influence the final bisque color.
  • The technical outcome of the firing and glazing process remains the responsibility of the user.
