SP 1482 Dali - Artistic High-Fire Glaze

SP 1482 Dali is an artistic high-fire glaze distinguished by silvery, bluish, and metallic reflections developing over a grey-brown base. Its reactive and fluid character creates varying concentrations of color across recessed, curved, and raised areas of the form, giving the surface a deep and dynamic appearance. Depending on application thickness and firing conditions, it may develop satin, metallic, and variegated effects.

Food Safe: This glaze is suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food when proper application and firing conditions are followed.
Flow Warning: This glaze has a highly fluid character. Application thickness should be carefully controlled, especially on vertical forms. A wide unglazed safety margin should be left near the base, and the kiln shelf should be protected with a catch plate.

Application Notes

  • Reactive transitions: Bluish-grey metallic tones may intensify in recessed and curved areas where the glaze pools. In thinner raised areas, brown and earthy tones may become more pronounced.
  • Variegated surface: Layered transitions created during glaze movement may produce a deep and dynamic appearance reminiscent of oil-painted textures.
  • Flow control: In thicker applications, the glaze may become more likely to run toward the base. Leaving a wide unglazed area near the bottom and using a catch plate are recommended.
  • Thickness effect: As application thickness increases, metallic blue and silvery reflections may become more intense. In thinner applications, the grey-brown base may remain more prominent.
  • Consistency adjustment: For dipping or spray gun applications, water should be added gradually and in a controlled manner to avoid over-diluting the product.
  • Clay body selection: The color and chemical composition of the high-fire clay body may affect the tone and intensity of the metallic reflections.
  • Care: Hand washing is recommended to preserve the metallic surface and satin sheen.
  • Storage: Keep the container closed and store away from direct sunlight. If settling or thickening occurs, mix thoroughly before application and strain if necessary.
Important Recommendation: Glaze flow, metallic reflections, color transitions, and surface sheen may vary depending on application thickness, clay body, kiln firing schedule, and cooling rate. Due to the high risk of glaze flow, testing on vertical test tiles is recommended before the main application.
