SP 1466 Miro - Artistic High-Fire Glaze
SP 1466 Miro is an artistic high-fire glaze with a reactive surface character that shifts between light taupe, cream, and soft brown tones. Thin applications create a calm, matte appearance reminiscent of natural stone, while thicker areas may develop deeper taupe tones and glossy transitions. As the firing temperature increases, mineral-like particles and layered color variations may develop across the surface.
Not Food Safe: Due to its lack of acid resistance, this glaze is not recommended for plates, bowls, mugs, or other functional surfaces that come into contact with acidic foods such as lemon, vinegar, and similar ingredients. It should be used for decorative and artistic pieces.
Flow Warning: The glaze exhibits a more stable character when fired between 1200°C and 1220°C, while thick applications between 1220°C and 1250°C may become more fluid. Sufficient unglazed space should be left near the base of vertical forms.

Application Notes
- Thin application: At lower temperatures and with thin coats, a soft matte surface with light taupe, cream, and light brown variations may develop.
- Natural stone effect: Matte areas may develop a subtle, mineral-rich appearance reminiscent of natural stone.
- Thick application: In areas where the glaze pools, the taupe tone may deepen and the matte surface may transition into glossy areas.
- High-temperature effect: As the firing temperature approaches 1250°C, the overall surface gloss may increase and matte microcrystal-like particles may develop.
- Flow control: The risk of glaze flow increases with thick applications and at higher temperatures. Sufficient unglazed space should be left near the base of the piece, and the kiln shelf should be protected.
