Technical Details and Application

Painting and Glazing

Refsan underglaze ready-to-use paints are highly recommended for detailed surface art. For daily food and beverage contact, ensure the saucer is fully glazed with food-safe ceramic glazes.

  • Ceramic Application: Fire between 1040°C and 1050°C for a professional, high-gloss finish.
  • Tile (Çini) Application: Traditional tile glazes maturing at 900°C – 920°C can be used for refined, artisanal patterns.

Decorative Use with Acrylic Paint

  • Ideally suited for display-only decorative projects using acrylic paints (no kiln firing required).
  • Safety Warning: Acrylic-finished items are not food-safe. Do not use for serving food or as a resting surface for cups containing hot liquids if finished with acrylics.
  • A protective varnish is recommended post-painting to preserve the design.

Craftsmanship & Variations

Fired at 1050°C to reach its sturdy bisque state, each saucer exhibits artisanal quality. Due to the casting and hand-finishing process, minor variations in thickness, size, or clay tone (white vs. red clay) are natural hallmarks of handcrafted pottery.

Firing Safety & Guidelines

  • Surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned of dust and completely dry before applying glaze.
  • Strictly follow the temperature requirements of your specific glaze type.
  • Performing a test fire is suggested to observe how kiln atmosphere influences final colors.
