Technical Details and Application

Painting and Glazing

Refsan underglaze ready-to-use paints are highly compatible with this Tulip Plaque. Firing is the essential final step to transform the porous bisque into a professional ceramic decor piece with brilliant, long-lasting colors.

  • Ceramic Firing: Fire between 1040°C and 1050°C for a resilient and high-gloss surface.
  • Tile (Çini) Firing: Perfect for classical "Çini" patterns at 900°C – 920°C.

Decorative Use with Acrylic Paint

  • Suitable for display-only decorative projects (no kiln firing required).
  • Safety Warning: Acrylic-finished plaques are not food-safe and should not be used in contact with health-sensitive materials.
  • A protective varnish is recommended post-painting to maintain the design and safeguard the surface.

Craftsmanship & Handcrafted Variations

Each Tulip Plaque is fired at 1050°C to reach its sturdy bisque state. As a product of artisanal production, minor variations in thickness, size, or clay tone are natural hallmarks of authentic pottery, ensuring every plaque carries its own unique charm.

Firing Safety & Guidelines

  • The surface must be thoroughly cleaned of dust and completely dry before glaze application.
  • Strictly follow the temperature requirements of the specific glaze used.
  • Performing a test fire is suggested to observe how kiln atmosphere influences the final color.
