Application Secrets and the "Boron Veil" Effect

Unlike glossy glazes, matte glazes are much more sensitive to application thickness:

• Thin Application: This is the ideal result. The surface becomes homogeneous, clear, and achieves a silky matte finish.
• Thick Application: Due to components in the glaze structure, a whitish, misty appearance known as "boron veil" may occur on the surface. Unless this is a design choice, controlled application is critical.
• Combinations: It can create surprise effects when layered with artistic glazes; however, a pre-test should always be conducted.
