SP 1408 Savsat - Stoneware Glaze

SP 1408 Savsat takes its name from the mythical forests of Artvin and the deep moss-green reflections of Karagöl, offering a glaze with high textural depth. While providing a speckled sage/olive green base on the surface during firing, it "breaks" into a misty ivory-mustard tone on the edges and relief details, creating immense natural dynamism. Savsat brings the cool and dignified nature of the Black Sea region to your objects with the elegance of a handmade sculpture.

✅ Food Safety: This glaze is food safe. Thanks to its high temperature resistance and solid mineral structure, it can be safely preferred for modern dinner sets, rustic serving bowls, and characteristic stoneware mug collections.

Application and "Savsat" Texture Notes

  • Reactive Transitions: The most prominent artistic feature of the glaze is how it changes character based on application thickness. When the glaze pools in recessed areas, the deep moss tones and green speckles become saturated, while thinning out on high points (such as the edges of the letter 'S' in the visual) to reveal the misty mustard-cream effect beneath.
  • Application Technique: Applying 3 coats with a brush is ideal to capture that fully saturated and layered forest texture. For glaze homogeneity, each coat should be applied in a different direction.
  • Clay Selection: Green-mustard transitions emerge in their freshest form on white stoneware clays. On speckled or dark clays, it takes on a much more rustic, heavy, and antique character.
  • Volume Emphasis: This glaze is perfect for forms with texture, seals, or reliefs, as it thins over details to highlight the form like a living mineral.
