SP 1213 Golyazi Stoneware Effect Glaze

SP 1213 Golyazi takes its name from Bursa's fairytale lakeside town, bringing the crystal texture of water and the misty light hitting the shores onto your ceramics. This premium reactive glaze fires at stoneware (high-firing) temperatures, offering a deep and textured "lake blue" at its center while breaking into a creamy/white tone along edges and relief details to build tremendous depth. Its crystallized structure promises an artistic surface that mimics sun glints dancing on water when exposed to light.

✅ Food Safety: This glaze is food safe. Thanks to its high-temperature resistance and stable glass matrix, it can be confidently used for modern dinnerware, characteristic soup bowls, and custom stoneware mug designs.

Application & "Golyazi" Effect Notes

  • Breaking Character: The most remarkable quality of this glaze is how it thins out on high spots, rims, and surface details to create a white/ivory halo. This naturally highlights the handmade value and artistic contours of your pieces.
  • Coating Thickness: For brush application, applying 3 layers is ideal to capture that rich lake depth and variegated blue tone. Waiting for each coat to dry completely enhances the quality of the reaction.
  • Clay Selection: The crystallized transitions emerge in their brightest and clearest state on white stoneware clays. On speckled clays, the glaze achieves a much more rustic and mystical appearance.
  • Firing Regime: Reactive glazes tend to be mobile at high temperatures. While it pools beautifully at the base of forms to enrich effects, precautions against running should be taken on vertical pieces if applied heavily.
