SP 1209 Frutti Stoneware Effect Glaze

SP 1209 Frutti takes its name from the rich color palette of tropical fruits and the "juicy", dynamic texture it develops on the surface upon firing. This special effect glaze reacts at stoneware (high-firing) temperatures, offering saturated caramel-amber tones at its center while breaking into frosty blue and misty gray crystal halos towards the edges. Thanks to its complex mineral structure, it creates a unique artistic composition on every single piece, adding an unparalleled depth to your ceramic work.

✅ Food Safety: This glaze is food safe. Thanks to its high-temperature resistance and durable structure, it can be confidently used for modern dinnerware, large serving bowls, and characteristic kitchen accessories.

Application & Effect Notes

  • Gradient Structure: The most outstanding feature of this glaze is that it thins out on surface details (reliefs and edges) to reveal golden/mustard tones, while pooling in deeper areas to wrap itself in reactive blue halos.
  • Coating Technique: For brush application, applying 3 layers is ideal to capture that rich, layered fruity texture. Allowing each layer to dry completely before applying the next enhances the quality of the reaction.
  • Clay Selection: The blue-gray crystal transitions emerge in their most vibrant form on white stoneware clays. On speckled clays, the glaze achieves a much more exotic and rustic character.
  • Fluidity: Reactive glazes can be highly mobile. While it pools at the lower parts of the form to enrich the effects, precautions against running should be taken near the feet of the pieces during heavy applications.
