Sodium Carbonate
Sodium carbonate is an inorganic compound with various hydrates with the formula Na₂CO₃. All forms are white, water-soluble salts. All its forms have a strong alkaline taste and yield moderately alkaline solutions in water. Sodium carbonate (Na2 CO3), otherwise known as calcined soda, is a salt of carbonic acid and sodium. It is found in the natural environment both in its natural state and in soda lakes, ashes of sea plants and as a component of minerals.
