Shellac Polish

Shellac Polish is an auxiliary material supplied in flake form and used for surface preparation in plaster mold making. It is prepared by dissolving it in denatured alcohol and then applied to the plaster surface.

Preparation

Add 150 gr of shellac to 1 lt of denatured alcohol and mix. The shellac dissolves in the denatured alcohol within approximately 2 hours and becomes ready for application.

Use in Plaster Mold Making

Apply one coat of the prepared shellac to the plaster mold surface and allow it to sit for 15 - 20 min. If a second coat is to be applied, the first coat can be smoothed with fine sandpaper before applying the second coat.

Application Method

After applying the shellac, dilute soft soap with water and apply it to the surface. Lightly remove any excess from the surface using a sponge. After these steps, plaster can be poured onto the prepared surface.

Preparation note: To prepare shellac, add 150 gr of shellac to 1 lt of denatured alcohol. The specified coats and waiting times should be observed during application.
