Technical Details and Applications

Painting and Glazing

  • Underglaze Painting: Refsan ready underglaze paints can be safely used on both tile and ceramic bisque products.
  • Ceramic Glazing: Ceramic glazes generally mature between 1040°C and 1050°C, producing a smooth and durable surface.
  • Tile Glazing: Tile glazes are typically fired between 900°C and 920°C, providing a refined decorative finish.

Firing

Our products are carefully fired at 1050°C to reach the bisque stage. This firing process improves durability and enhances the natural color of the ceramic body. Different firing temperatures and durations may influence the final surface appearance.

Acrylic Paint for Decorative Use

  • Acrylic paints can be used for decorative painting.
  • Warning: Acrylic paint is not suitable for food contact.
  • Applying a protective varnish after painting is recommended.
  • Acrylic decoration does not require firing and is suitable for decorative purposes.

Handcrafted Character and Possible Variations

Bisque products produced through casting or wheel techniques may show minor differences in thickness and dimensions. In casting processes, thinner or thicker areas can occur depending on the structural characteristics of the piece. These variations reflect the natural character of handcrafted ceramic production.

Different clay bodies may also create natural color variations. For example, white clay produces lighter bisque tones while red clay results in darker and warmer shades.

Durability and Care Notes

Our products become durable after glazing and firing. However, usage conditions may vary depending on the application. Ceramic items are generally resistant to external factors but still require careful handling. Decorative surfaces created with acrylic paint may wear over time.

Important Notes for Glazing and Firing

  • The product must be cleaned and fully dried before glazing.
  • Ceramic and tile glazes mature at different temperatures, so the appropriate firing schedule must be followed.
  • After acrylic painting, applying varnish helps protect against external factors.
  • Different firing temperatures may affect the bisque color, so preliminary testing is recommended.
