Our products are in bisque form; they become ready for use after glazing and firing processes.
Painting and Glazing
Refsan underglaze ready paints can be safely used on both tile and ceramic bisques. The glazing process enhances both the aesthetic appearance and the durability of the product.
Ceramic Products: When glazing ceramic bisque products, ceramic glazes should be used. Ceramic glazes generally mature between 1040°C and 1050°C. This glaze provides a smooth surface for ceramic products and helps them last longer.
Tile Products: When glazing tile bisque products, tile glazes should be used. Tile glazes are typically fired between 900°C and 920°C. These glazes provide a fine and elegant surface.
Firing
Our products are carefully fired at 1050°C to achieve the bisque form. The firing temperature increases the durability of the products and enhances their color definition. Different firing durations and temperatures can affect the surface characteristics and aesthetic appearance of the pieces.
Acrylic Paint
Acrylic paints can be used for coloring; however, this process is not suitable for food contact. It is recommended to apply a protective varnish after acrylic painting. Acrylic painting does not require firing and is ideal for decorative use. However, such paints should not be used on items that come into contact with food.
Possible Product Variations
In bisque products produced by casting or wheel throwing, thickness and size variations may occur. In casting, thinner or thicker areas may form depending on the structural properties of the products. These variations reflect the uniqueness of each piece and the effect of handcraftsmanship.
The use of different clay types can cause natural tone variations in the products. The color of ceramic and tile bisques may vary depending on the type of clay used. For example, white clay produces lighter-toned bisques, while red clay results in darker and warmer tones.
Product Durability
Our products become durable after the firing and glazing processes. However, maintenance and usage conditions may vary depending on the type of product. Especially ceramic items are more resistant to external factors but require careful handling. Decorations made with acrylic paint may wear off over time.
Points to Consider During Firing and Glazing
Products should be cleaned and dried before glazing.
Tile and ceramic glazes mature at different temperatures, so the appropriate firing temperature should be carefully observed.
After acrylic painting, applying a layer of varnish helps protect against external factors.
Different firing temperatures can affect the color of bisque products, so preliminary testing is recommended.
