SG 1500 Tenmoku - Ceramingo Stoneware Glaze

SG 1500 Tenmoku is a high-fire glaze inspired by the most iconic iron glazes in ceramic history, offering a deep and dignified character. Providing a rich mustard-amber and scorched earth tone on the surface, this glaze reveals the true miracle of Tenmoku at the edges of the form: it "breaks" into a darker tone on sharp lines and reliefs, highlighting the object's form like a fine pencil stroke. Its satin-matte texture adds an antique elegance and handmade strength to your artwork.

✅ Food Safety: This glaze is food safe. Thanks to its high temperature resistance and acid-resistant mineral structure, it can be safely preferred for professional kitchen presentations, restaurant plates, and characteristic stoneware mug designs.

Application and "Tenmoku" Character Notes

  • Breaking Effect: The strongest artistic feature of the Tenmoku glaze is how it thins out on form details (such as the edges of the letter 'S' in the visual), creating a darker, scorched halo. This provides perfect results for textured and relief works.
  • Application Thickness: Applying 3 coats with a brush is ideal to achieve full saturation and mineral depth. Complete drying between coats should be observed for glaze homogeneity.
  • Clay Selection: Amber tones emerge in their warmest form on white stoneware clays. On dark clays containing iron, the glaze reacts with the clay to take on a much heavier, antique, and "metallic" appearance.
  • Density Management: For ideal fluidity in pouring or dipping methods, you can optimize the density according to your application style by adding 5-10% water.
